Entry to our courses is through successful audition and interview.

The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance accepts students from the age of 16. There are no set entry requirements for our foundation level course, however evidence of the potential to benefit from the training is essential. No formal qualifications are required for entry to our NQ / Certificate level course - the first year of our 3-year programme - however some dance experience is preferable.

Entry directly into Year 2 (HNC) or Year 3 (HND) is possible for exceptional students with previous dance experience who can demonstrate a hightechnical standard in contemporary and or ballet technique.

The audition and interview process comprises:

  • Participation in a contemporary dance technique class
  • A physical examination by a physiotherapist Participation in a creative/improvisation exercise
  • An interview with the audition panel Students applying for direct entry to Year 2 or 3 are also required to participate in a ballet class.
