Dundee College is a centre accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA)
SCQF
All courses sit within the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at different levels.

Courses for International Students
National Qualifications (NQ) programmes (SCQF level 6)
This comprises a series of NQ units requiring full time attendance for up to 1 academic year. See SQA website
Higher National Qualification
Higher National courses provide both the practical skills you need to do a job and the theoretical knowledge your employer will expect you to have.
All the courses are made up of Higher National Unit credits (one credit represents roughly 40 hours of timetabled learning).
- HNCs are made up of 12 credits and usually take one year to complete
- HNDs are made up of 30 credits and usually take two years to complete
Higher National qualifications have been developed by the Scottish Qualifications Authority in partnership with colleges, universities and industry.
Higher National Certificate (HNC) programmes (SCQF level 7)
This comprises a series of HN units requiring full time attendance for up to 1 academic year.
Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes (SCQF level 8)
This comprises a series of HN units requiring full time attendance for up to 2 academic years. The first year of HND is called HNC or HND year 1.
Qualifications are awarded by the SQA and not Dundee College.
Progression
You can progress from Dundee College to 2nd or 3rd year at University through college articulation agreements. The Curriculum Manager can advise you about progression pathways.
