Passport to Health & Safety

October 2009 - September 2011

Together with Shell Technology India and the Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in

Bangalore, Dundee College is developing a Health and Safety pack for graduates which will provide practical skills for employees in the petrochemical industry.

The project aim is to develop skilled and job-ready Indian technicians through a jointly developed programme between Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering and Dundee College, with support from Shell staff based in Bangalore.

The skills to be developed include a significant focus on Health and Safety. The key outcome of the project will be the design of a combined programme which will better position DSCE students to progress into employment in the petrochemical or other industrial Research and Development Centres, such as the Shell Technology Centre in Bangalore.

Key elements of the project have already included an exchange of Faculty, Masterclasses and workshops in both partner colleges, job shadowing, exchange of Health and Safety  training materials designed for the engineering sector and customised to meet the needs of Indian industry, and industrial visits and familiarisation programmes.

An annual highlight of the project activity has been a Global Gathering, which has allowed partners from a range of Indian sub-continent and European countries to meet and debate current issues of global concern such as the environment, climate change and urban sustainability.
