MCMC

April 2010 - March 2011

Discrete programmes in this project, which is jointly managed by Dundee College and Dundee City Council, are designed to support up to 530 young people aged 15-19 who have been identified as facing barriers to accessing further education, training and employment.  Many beneficiaries require considerable support as they face multiple disadvantages, eg disaffected or disengaged with mainstream school but with the potential to progress in their chosen vocational area.

Programmes provide a positive transition onto next steps, and students are supported by College staff and external partners and organisations throughout.  Programmes aim to build confidence and self-esteem, and help beneficiaries achieve the next level of progression and equip them for entering employment.

All beneficiaries have the opportunity to do SQA qualifications, including Core Skills and are guaranteed progression opportunities to the next level of study should they not be ready to undertake employment at the end of the programme, including progression to further study, Get Ready for Work, Skillseekers and/or Modern Apprenticeships.

The key elements of the programmes are the development of the following skills – personal and social, learning, core, employability and citizenship.
