Europe
In Scotland, European Structural Funds are the significant source of European Union funding for economic development in Scotland. Programmes run over a seven year period. From 2000-2006 Structural Funds spending provided over £1.1 billion of support for Scotland, supporting the Scottish Government's aims of boosting economic growth and improving productivity in Scotland while reducing economic and social disparities.
Within the current programme from 2007 to 2013 the focus for funding has been on Scottish priorities and strategies, and to assist the economy during difficult times. Dundee has benefited significantly from funding made available through the Community Planning Partnership (CPP) which provides training and skills development for those seeking to move into employment.
ERDF and ESF
The European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund are the two principal Structural Funds distributed within Scotland. ERDF provides funding for capital development projects, and ESF focuses on human resources and skills-related issues.
Dundee College has a number of projects funded through ERDF and ESF. These are:
- Microgeneration Skills
- CPP Academies
- Transition to Employment
- MCMC
- Skills for Scotland
