Full-time Programmes

Christmas Leavers, aged fifteen and a half, can apply for National Qualification and introductory programmes with the permission of the school Rector.

S4, S5 & S6 leavers can apply for over 20 National Qualification and introductory programmes, many of which have no formal entry requirements. S5 & S6 leavers with standard and higher grades can apply for National Qualification or Higher National Certificate / Diploma programmes.

Part-time Programmes

Students still attending school can participate in our Tuesday and Thursday afternoon Vocational Initiative Programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to "taste college programmes" in a choice of areas, for example Building Crafts, Motor Vehicle Engineering, Logistics (HGV), Childcare and Early Years, Life Sciences Technician, Catering and Hospitality, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy. Programmes lead to certification and can lead to places on full-time programmes the following year.

A recent development between Dundee City Council Education Department and Dundee College has been to promote not only programme opportunities but employment prospects for S3 - S6 pupils attending college on a half day per week day-release.

These programmes provide routes to full-time employment through modern apprenticeships or guaranteed places on full-time college programmes.

Skillseekers Provision

S4, S5 & S6 leavers seeking their first experience of working life can gain access to a wide range of training opportunities through Dundee College Skillseekers provision. Vocational Qualifications (VQs) are acknowledged by industry and provide training to recognised standards.

Scottish Vocational Qualifications can be achieved at Level 2, 3 or Modern Apprenticeship in a wide range of career areas.
