Performing Arts

Established in 1987 and with an enviable reputation Performing Arts is part of the Centre for Creative & Digital Industries and is based in custom built studios within Gardyne Campus with its 400 seat lyric theatre and The Space; an award winning Dance and Theatre complex with a 200 seat Theatre, dedicated to the performing arts curriculum, within Kingsway Campus.
Performing Arts provision provides an outstanding learning experience for progression to further training and establishing a career in the creative industries. Course content reflects the needs of the industry and many opportunities are provided through strong links and partnership working within the creative industries; in particular Dundee Rep Theatre, Scottish Dance Theatre and Smallpetitklein Dance Company. Performing Arts offer a broad range of disciplines including; Acting and Performance; Dance and Theatre; Technical Theatre; Contemporary Dance and incorporates the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance. For a number of our Courses additional contact hours are afforded through professional Practise opportunities. A range of optional Master Classes and Workshops are made available to students.
The quality of our Dance and Theatre performances has gained national recognition; they are always exciting, demanding and often innovative. Tutorials offer in-depth advice on technical and performance skills and provide guidance on future training and the range of career opportunities helping students to make informed choices
One of several exciting new opportunities for 2012-13 our HNC in Technical Training, delivered in partnership with Dundee Rep Theatre, offers a unique opportunity to build a successful future in an area of the creative industries which is experiencing an unprecedented period of growth.
