Modern Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) are a way of gaining skills and qualifications that will help you start or develop a career without having to study full-time. They offer anyone over 16 the chance to gain invaluable industry recognised training, while in paid employment. The cost of this training is met by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and the employer, so it costs you nothing. The only investment you will need to make is in terms of time and effort - and the rewards will be well worth it.

Modern Apprenticeships are available in a number of industry sectors, and the format of training decided by the appropriate vocational qualification for that sector. You can receive training relevant to the nature and level of your current job, as well as core skills of communication, teamwork, problem solving.

On a Modern Apprenticeship you will work towards a SCQF 5 (SVQ Level 2) or above. The time it takes to complete an MA can vary. It can take up to 4 years, but can be completed in a lot less time.

Dundee College provides MA training in Health and Social Care, Children’s Care Learning and Development, Accounting, Business and Administration, Hairdressing, Life Science and Automotive Engineering.
