Full-time: 4 weeks in July; Part-time: 4 months, starting September or January
Requirements
To have completed either higher education or have a standard of education which would allow entry to higher education. Acceptance on the course is by interview. Experience of working abroad or of having learned a language are a plus.
Content
The programme includes a minimum of 120 contact hours with input on methodology and language awareness plus 6 hours of assessed teaching practice and 6 hours observation of experienced teachers. There are 4 written assessments which are internally assessed and externally moderated.
Future Prospects
This is an internationally recognised qualification which enables the holder to take up work as a teacher of ESOL in a wide variety of institutions both in the UK and abroad.
