Servite Staff Relax With a Massage
Servite Housing Association recently arranged on-site "taster" massage sessions for office-based staff as part of its "Healthy Working Lives" activities.
Irene Harrison, HR officer, said:
"Whilst there are companies which specialise in this, with our existing links with Dundee College I wondered if there might be an opportunity to see if the complementary therapy students would like some practical experience. The college let their students know what we were looking for and Phyllis Horn contacted me to say she was interested in working with us."
Phyllis has been studying at Dundee College to increase her portfolio of therapies for her own business, REVIVE Complementary Therapies. She operates as a mobile therapist and is a real advocate of the benefits of on-site massage for staff wellbeing. The sessions lasted 20 minutes and were aimed at easing muscles tensed up from sitting at computers and also to help energise the participants.
Staff who attended the sessions were complimentary about the massages. Contracts Manager Harry Smith commented:
"I thought it was great. It was relaxing and the therapist was very professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend it to anyone."
