Indian Delegates Study College Practice

Indian Visitors

Dundee College played host to a delegation comprising 10 educationalists from India on Tuesday, June 1.

As members of the Meghe Group of institutions the delegates represent two engineering colleges and an institute of management studies.

The Meghe Group is the leading educational group in central India and its representatives have already signed a memorandum of understanding with Scotland’s Colleges, the umbrella organisation which represents all 43 of the country’s further education institutions.

The delegation from Nagpur visited Dundee College to study educational best practice.

The 10-strong group also investigated student-centred learning.

“Our aim is to work in partnership in a bid to enhance learning opportunities for Dundee College students as well as those in India,” said Fiona Jurk, international manager, who paved the way for this visit by travelling to Nagpur in February this year.

“By working closely with international organisations we hope to increase opportunities for our students to take part in foreign exchange trips through work and study placements abroad.

“We can also see real commercial opportunities through partnership with India, we have a certain level of expertise and there are people all over the world who want to buy this from us.”

The delegates were welcomed to college by Principal Christina Potter and while at the Kingsway Campus they enjoyed presentations on science and engineering and a tour of the centre for construction and built environment.
