McGill Electrical is a major electrical contracting company undertaking a wide range of electrical projects.
The company has in-house state of the art design facilities with the latest CAD technology enabling it to offer a full design and build capability. The company also offers a full mechanical and electrical point of contact for their clients. The design, supply, installation and maintenance service for security systems; heating and plumbing and fire prevention / sprinkler systems.
The company operates throughout Scotland having offices in Dundee, Glasgow and Dalgety Bay.
The partnership will provide the company with the capability to become a major contractor in Scotland for the design, installation and maintenance of micro-renewable technologies. The transfer of expertise of micro-renewable energy technologies from the College to the company will enable it to integrate the technologies into the business through establishing a new operating division into its commercial and domestic building services activities.
Micro-renewable energy technologies, sometimes termed low carbon technologies, are typically used to reduce the energy requirement of buildings. The technologies under consideration in this project are:
- Insulation and energy conservation materials
- Airflow and ventilation control
- Solar energy, both heating panels and photovoltaics
- Geothermal ground source heat pump systems and biomass using sustainable wood chip
The business has a strategic plan to take the initiative and develop this capability into a division that will complement the other activities of the company.
