Flexible Training Opportunities

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has recently introduced the Flexible Training Opportunities programme which gives Scottish businesses (1-50 employees) the opportunity to apply for up to £500* towards employee training costs.

Enhancing employees' skills can bring real benefits to your business including improved productivity and a stronger, more confident, workforce.

The types and levels of training that are eligible for support are:

  • Qualifications including individual units
  • Masterclasses
  • Learning based on National Occupational Standards
  • Industry recognised qualifications
  • First line supervisory management
  • Workshops
  • Taster sessions

Funding is available for up to 10 employees per business to undertake one period of training each. SDS will fund 50% of the training costs with an overall maximum of £500 per employee. For example, if a period of training costs £300, they will refund £150, if it costs £1200, they will refund the maximum £500.

The money is not a loan so there's no need to pay it back.

To apply call the SDS helpline free on 0800 783 6000.
